Want to make a change? Don’t know where to start. Do these 5 things and watch your life immediately change.
focus on your vision
First, identify what it is you want to change. Find a place where you can think alone and get honest with yourself. Try this the car or laying in bed.
What brings you the most dissatisfaction and ask yourself why. Peel back the layers of that why 3 times to get the real meaning. It should go something like this:
Example:
- I am not happy at my job.
- Why?
- I don’t make enough money.
- Why do you want more money?
- I want to do things with my family and not worry about the expense.
- Why?
- So I can create amazing memories with my family.
Slowly, like layers of an onion (or cake), you start to understand yourself and work through your intensions and priorities. This will help you identify the root of your feelings. Remember it is important to be honest with yourself.
Second, create a vision board. Having a goal or aspiration encourages action.
We often feel lost due to the lack of pursuing the things we love. Do you remember what that is?
I still love physical paper vision boards and have had much success with them. However, a digital one can be just as good.
You can create a digital one by downloading an app called “Vision Board”. Uploading pictures and saving the board to your lock screen or background on your phone. This keeps the board private but where I can see it at all times.
evaluate your Health
Check-in with yourself. How are you feeling physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually? Take inventory.
Radically changing all of these aspects are a HUGE undertaking so take inventory first.
Eat the bullfrog first. What is the biggest thing dragging you down? Focus on that.
What are you feeling? Are you tired? Lonely?
Give your body what it needs. Take a PTO day. Go for a walk. Try not to go out and have one too many this weekend or maybe you need to cut loose a bit. Talk to someone about what is on your mind.
You cannot do any changing until you give your body what it needs to change. Recharge to refocus.
Repeat this step once a week. Rinse and repeat.
Observe your self talk
Have you ever listened to you talk to yourself? What do you say?
If you want to change your life you need to talk to yourself in a way that encourages such change. Affirmations are a wonderful place to start. In a world of negativity be your positivity.
Tell yourself you are successful. You deserve to be wealthy. You can be happy and deserve to be happy. You are worthy of love. You are beautiful.
All the above are true and you are the best person to tell yourself this.
You can write your affirmations on a piece of paper and put it on your bathroom mirror. You can record yourself saying them and play them every day on your way to work or getting ready. The most important thing is consistency.
Manifestations are directions for the subconscious mind. Give it the map and you will be amazed at what direction it takes.
work in your comfort zone
Do things that bring you comfort then slowly push.
Every self-help book you find out there will tell you to reach outside your comfort zone. Push yourself to do better. Be better.
All those things are great but it is so discouraging to feel like everything is going wrong and you need to drastically change it all. Then exhaust yourself trying to change too much too fast.
You are enough and your feelings are important. Take time to rest in your comfort zone and make small changes.
Maybe you are trying be more active. Instead of hitting the gym hard 4 days a week, getting extremely sore and hating it, try walking for 5 minutes 2 times a week. Then move up to 10 minutes. Then 15 minutes. The next week 20. Create the habits first then worry about the details later.
Understand finances
Whether we want to admit it or not money is what makes the world go around.
Money is a taboo topic still. We live in a consumer society and the hustle culture is strong. Everywhere we look someone is talking about the next “get rich quick” scheme or the next hot thing you should buy. It can be exhausting and the root of a lot of anxiety. More so if money was not something that was discussed in your family.
If you are feeling like money is running you it is time to take control.
Learn about finances and understand how to control your financial situation. Saving, credit and investing are not the average person’s passion however it is the very thing that allows you to follow yours.
